Kelly Koele was a standout high school athlete in both basketball and track. She was honored as the basketball team captain, team MVP and female athlete of the year. She was also named all-area and academic all-state. Kelly played basketball at Redlands Community College before she transferred to Baylor University. Kelly began her volleyball coaching career in 1997 at Second Baptist School in Houston. She quickly fell in love with the game and began learning everything she could from other coaches and clinics. She had the privilege of coaching with Sue Schelfhout, a former All-American and National Champion setter at the University of Texas. Kelly worked with Sue at Second Baptist for ten years where they won three state championships and had six Final Four appearances. Kelly also coached club volleyball in Houston while also coaching basketball, track and softball at Second Baptist.
Fun Facts: Kelly is married to Patrick, who is a teacher and coach. They have three children: Levi, Dylan and Ryder. She worked at Kanakuk Kamp (a Christian Sports Camp in the Ozarks) for seven years during the summers and one year full time. Kelly now operates a photography business, Kelly Koele Photography, specializing in sports, family and senior pictures.
