Shawna Werts

Shawna Werts played volleyball, basketball, softball and ran track throughout high school. She received a full athletic scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Central Oklahoma where she was the setter and enjoyed All-Conference Honors her sophomore, junior and Senior years and still holds a school record or two.

Shawna has coached high school volleyball for 20 years. She began at Casady School in Oklahoma City as a head coach at the age of 21. She then finished her education degree and began teaching and coaching at Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond, OK where she was an assistant coach for a few years before becoming the varsity coach for the next seven years.

In 2000 she and her family moved to Texas and she became the varsity assistant and JV volleyball coach & varsity assistant basketball coach at Grapevine High School for eight years. She currently works at Killough Lewisville High School where she teaches AVID (a college readiness program.)

Fun facts: Shawna has been married to her husband, Jeremy for 29 years. He is an English teacher at Flower Mound High School. They have two kids, Molly, who is a graphic designer in Baltimore, Maryland and played collegiate volleyball for Loyola in Maryland and Jack, who is a junior at Flower Mound High School.
